2022 awards cancelled

In December last year we took the decision to postpone the 2022 awards. Then, primary care was anticipating the influx of Omicron.

Now as a further wave hits the country, we can only hope that come September people will be starting to feel some relief. What we do know is the sector should not be thinking about award entries.

People are exhausted – we do not want to add to the burden they already carry.

A big thank you to our sponsors who, almost from the moment the music stopped at last year’s awards, stepped up to support the next event.

The awards were impossible without such support.

And to the sector at large – to pharmacists, GPs, nurses, NPs, midwives, managers, Māori providers, Pacific providers and suppliers - a big thank you, especially to those who put in entries for the 2022 awards, which we planned to hold over for next year. We are sorry the event will not go ahead.

There will be a time to celebrate. But not quite now.

Supporting the primary care sector

A strong primary care sector is crucial to a successful New Zealand health system, providing great care for patients and a great work environment.

The Health Media and the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand believe the awards will encourage collaboration and innovation in primary care, and allow the healthcare sector and the public to see how hard primary care practitioners work to improve the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders and keep them out of the secondary care (hospital) system.

The collective aim is to improve access, health and wellbeing outcomes for Māori and non-Māori alike, and the awards celebrate the work that is already happening to encourage further collaboration.

The night will celebrate and showcase the best of the best across primary healthcare in Aotearoa. It’s the perfect opportunity to socialise and network with your colleagues across the primary healthcare sector.
